On June 6th and 7th, 2007, Well Fed Head Books held its first Team Selection SlamOff to determine the five poets who will represent the Missouri Ozarks at the National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas.

The event was held over two back-to-back days at the Moxie Cinema and The Outland in downtown Springfield. All poets who competed in a Well Fed Head Poetry Slam between April 2006 and April 2007 were eligible to participate in our SlamOff Finals. The 2007 MOzarks Team Finalists are:

  1. Ben Haas (Grand Slam Champ)
  2. Matthew Mercer
  3. Brady Bilyeu
  4. Brian Lewis
  5. Lauryl Ames

Now in its 18th year, the National Poetry Slam is a five-day poetry competition and festival that attracts thousands of poets and poetry fans from across the Americas and Europe. We are honored to send a small group of our local poets to this national stage.

Congratulations and thanks go to all the poets, sacrifice poets, judges, audience and venues who made this SlamOff a fantastic time.
